The Philippines, specifically Mindanao was strucked by an earthquake recorded as the strongest earthquake ever hit the country and is still experiencing aftershocks at the moment. I was scrolling my feeds noticing everybody were alarmed associating this massive destruction as the sign of Jesus’ coming. Out for which reason I don’t know, my mind is telling me to read back the whole chapter of Matthew 24 and let my hands write these prose.

Matthew 24:3 (NIV) As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Many catastrophes are said to be the signs but this is what bible is showing us.

There is a great warning we have to wear. In verse 4-7 (NIV) Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.
5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ, ‘ and will deceive many.
6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

In verse 6, notice the word ” the end is still to come”. Some other revisions say ” it is not the end yet”.

Matthew 24:8 (NIV) All these are the beginning of birth pains.- This is very clear. The entrance to tribulation is now starting to loosen the locks. But this is not the time yet. This maybe the sign of end times, but end times will not follow immediately. There are still a lot of signs to follow. Perhaps this is a driver we need to record for something very important.

These signs has long been appearing a long time ago, not just with the mellineal age. Remember the Noah’s arc, when God poured out his anger into form of flood which vanished the whole world to put up a new one. The Sodom and Gomorrah, burnt down because of prostitution and homosexuality. Joseph, son of Jacob, went various trials to rescue the whole Israelites from famine. Moses led the people out of Egypt along times of Pharao’s slavery. Wars have been everywhere. Before and after Jesus. The World War II were recorded to have burried 70-80 millions of lives which is 3 percent of 1940 population from colonial greed. And at these times, we hear and witness arms participating wars.

The natural phenomena are popping out country every country: floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, hailstorms, wildfires and such. Every christians thought it’s the last days but no. It is just the beginning. Of pain. An entrance to suffering for those who have known the truth yet have chosen to turn their backs against God. The wickedness had overflowed the lands, false prophets are prophesying false prophesies.
Matthew 24:13 (NIV) but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Matthew 24:14 (NIV) And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.- This now starts the coming of the Lord. The truth: Jesus himself have not yet reach every corners of the world. He will soften the hearts of every mansion owners in heaven yet. There are still people who are playing with the innocence of their faiths waiting to be harvested. The gospel must be preached worlwide first. The verses 15-21 is the events of his actual second coming.

Matthew 24:25 (NIV) See, I have told you ahead of time. 26 (NIV) “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 (NIV) For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.- There is no appointed son of God mentioned. So don’t believe pretend-to-be-gods. The Saviour’s name is only Jesus Christ.

Matthew 24:29 (NIV) “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’
30 (NIV) “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
31 (NIV) And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. – The rapture collecting the celestial bodies of new Jerusalem.

In 36 (NIV) “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.- So let us not turn our focus into the signs of his coming but perhaps to repentance and preparations.
Matthew 24:34 (NIV) I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. -ALL THESE THINGS, he said.

The bible illustrates the second coming like the events in the Noah’s arc. When everybody’s drinking and pleasuring lusts. No one knows that flood will come. Before their eyes were shut, what they saw was a sea of destruction waving death around.

Matthew 24:42 (NIV) “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

Therefore these signs isn’t the second coming of the Lord but just the beggining of end times. We have to humble ourselves and call on him when procrastination is still free. Or else, premonitions will be more stronger than we expected.

Matthew 24:32 (NIV) “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. – We still have plenty of time before the days are ripe.

Don’t be bothered by the shakings of the ground but be preapred for the shakings of heavens.
